12-hour Siang district bandh imposed by INC Siang district unit demanding early restoration of road NH-13 at Lelek

Pangin, A 12-hour Siang district bandh has been imposed by the Indian National Congress (INC) Siang district unit on Monday demanding particularly early restoration of road NH-13 at Lelek near Rottung village under Kebang circle and to protest against abnormal hikes in fuel, cooking gas prices.

In a handwritten press release issued by the District Congress Committee (DCC), President,  Tagum Sitang claimed that people from all walks of life, including the business and farming community, wholeheartedly participated in the movement.

The district bandh was necessitated due to the delay strategy of the concerned department and the state government in restoring the said stretch of road.  The DCC president has also appealed to the state government to initiate immediate action to restore the important road connecting several districts.

Meanwhile, DCC spokesperson, Napi Darang said that it has been more than 6 months since the above section of road was washed on June 26 last, but to date, no action has been taken to restore the road, thereby causing untold suffering to commuters using the highway to reach various destinations.

Meanwhile, the DCC team gave a 10-day ultimatum to the state government to address the plight of the people and threatened to launch the second phase of agitation in a democratic way to press for their demands.
